About the Artist
“In 2017, I got serious about painting after visiting Alaska.
Painting mainly animals, I have now expanded that to abstract landscapes vacillating from dark to light. Working mainly in acrylics, I also enjoy going back to my roots of mixed media; incorporating ink, colored pencil, modeling paste and other textures into my creations.
My process is fairly straightforward but sometimes unpredictable. I often choose colors to paint with and whatever comes about will then exist in the universe. I am driven by emotion to paint.
While my pieces contain physical manifestations of objects (clouds, trees, etc.), they all are backed by an emotional response either noted in the title or from my landscape imaginings.
I often create to find joy within myself and hopefully extend that to others through colors and impressions of paint. I want to stimulate the viewer emotionally as well as through physical interaction through the texture in the art.
When a piece resonates with a viewer, I know my job is done.” —Tammy Kushnir
