About the Artist

Richard Hogan (b.1941) is one of New Mexico’’s most celebrated artists. He sees his paintings as objects, and uses line and color to build spatial tension.

His reductive linear vocabulary reflects his deep interest in Paleolithic and Neolithic art as much as his inquiry into the basic impulse of drawing.

Hogan received his BA from the University of New Mexico in 1962 and his MA in 1967.

His work is in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the United States, as well asthe permanent collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Santa Fe, NM; the Albuquerque Museum, Albuquerque, NM; the Sheldon Memorial Art Gallery, Lincoln NE; the Roswell Museum, Roswell, NM; Santa Fe Community College, Santa Fe, NM: and the Tucson Museum of Art, Tucson, AZ.
